BIOVEXO is happy to announce that it has just achieved its further two milestones, i.e. it has successfully selected and secured biopesticides for its large-scale field trials against Xylella fastidiosa that will start in March 2022 in olive and almond orchards in Italy and Spain.
BIOVEXO researchers Enza Dongiovanni, CRSFA, Italy, and Stéphane Compant, AIT, Austria, surveying test groves in Apulia.
These will be long-term trials covering 2-3 years and testing the efficacy of various solutions both against Xylella fastidiosa and its transmitting vector Philaenus spumarius under real field management conditions. In the first year, we start with multiple X-biopesticides and multiple V-biopesticides whereas in the later stages, we will reduce the number of pesticides tested and focus on the most promising ones only. Products of several BIOVEXO partners will be subject to testing.

Large-scale longitudinal field trials are necessary to collect sufficient evidence and data for potential future registration of the products, whether as bio-pesticides or as bio-fertilizers.
